New Smartphone App to check your Tax return status!

Check out whats new from the Internal Revenus Service this year! It called IRS2Go, its first smartphone application that lets taxpayers check on their status of their tax refund and obtain helpful tax information. Apple users can download the free IRS2Go application by visiting the Apple App Store. Android users can visit the Android Marketplace to download the free IRS2Go app.

Tax Returns due April 18th this year 2011

According to irs.gov Under District of Columbia law, Emancipation Day falls on a Saturday, this is a Holiday, meaning that it will be observed on Friday, April 15, 2011. The filing deadline for all tax forms and payments required to be filed or completed on or before April 15 (as described in Section 6072(a), including the Form 1040 series of returns) will be Monday, April 18, 2011. So that gives you a couple more days to get those returns done!

IRS now accepting Forms affected by Legislation enacted in December

On February 15, 2011 the Internal Revenue Service started processing individual tax returns affected by legislation enacted in December and reminded taxpayers that they can begin filing electronically immediately.
On Monday, IRS systems began to accept and process both e-file and paper tax returns claiming itemized deductions on Form 1040, Schedule A, as well as deductions for state and local sales tax, higher education tuition and fees and educator expenses.
